Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
CBT is an evidence based therapy which is very effective in treating a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and insomnia.
It is a shorter term therapy which focuses on patterns of behaviour and thinking, with the goal of helping you to think clearly and develop effective coping strategies.

Schema Therapy

It explores the origins of the patterns and provides insight and strategies for change. Schema therapy can be done individually or within a group setting.

Mindfulness & Relaxation
Both mindfulness and relaxation training teach strategies which assist with managing anxiety, depression, stress, sleeping difficulties and pain.
Mindfulness is about purposefully paying attention or being fully present and aware moment of what is going on in your mind, body, and the world around you. Mindfulness embodies an open, friendly, curious, and non-judgemental attitude.
Relaxation training uses techniques such as visualisation, auto-suggestion and body awareness to help you to decrease the impact of stress and anxiety on your mind and body. It is often used as an adjunct to other therapies such as CBT.

Acceptance & Commitlent Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is centered on leading a life based on your deepest values. Mindfulness skills are taught to enable you to be fully present in everyday life even when experiencing uncomfortable or unpleasant thoughts or feelings so as to lessen their impact. ACT is about committing to action, which helps you live a more fulfilled life.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence based treatment for trauma. It addresses the difficulties which trauma sufferers have in processing traumatic memories and the associated overwhelming emotions. In doing so, EMDR addresses the original trauma as well as current situations which trigger trauma responses. It provides a positive experience from which to develop future adaptive behaviours.

Parent Management Training
Parents face many challenges raising children. Parent training involves collaborating with parents to understand and identify what factors underlie their child’s behaviour, how to challenge unhelpful beliefs, and how to further develop the parent-child relationship, all the while recognising parents’ strengths, with the goal of developing pro-social child behaviour and more satisfying parenting and family relationships.

Psycho-education
Psycho-education is a component of any psychotherapy and involves providing information to people with a mental health concern so they can better understand and deal with their problems. Family members can also be included, in particular in work with children and teenagers but also with adults who live with others. Increased understanding of mental health problems, their development and how they are best treated allows people to contribute to their own health and well being, and that of their loved ones.
